Converting from Pulse to Tone Dialing
IfyourcompanyisinaDialPulsearea,youmayneedtochangethedialingmodeofyourterminaltotone
(DTMF)afteryouplaceyourinitialcall.Thisallowsyoutousedial-upserviceslikeelectronicbankingora
client'sVoiceMail.
To change your dialing mode to DTMF:
1. Placeoutsidecallnormally.
YourcalldialsoutasDialPulse.
2. #.
ThenextdigitsyoudialgooutasDTMF.
Insteadofdialing#,theUX5000mayautomaticallyconverttoDTMF10secondsafteryoudial
thelastdigitofyouroutsidecall.
Are You Behind a PBX?
YourcommunicationsservermaybeconnectedtoaPrivateBranchExchange(PBX)ratherthantothe
telephonecompany'slines.Thismeansthatwhenyougetdialtoneonanoutsideline,youarereallyget-
tingdialtonefromthePBX.Thismayaffectthewayyouplaceoutsidecalls.Forexample:
Afteryoupressalinekey,youmayhavetodialanadditionalaccesscode(e.g.,9)beforeyoucan
dialyouroutsidenumber.
ThePBXmayrestrictyoufromplacingcertaintypesofcalls.
•IfyouuseAutomaticRouteSelection,yourcommunicationsservermayautomaticallyinsertwhat-
evercodesthePBXrequires.Forexample,whenyoudial99265400foranoutside call,your
UX5000maysend999265400tothePBX.
•YoumaybeabletoTransfertoandConferencewithothersystemsconnectedtothesamePBX.
