Ethernet Communications Section 7-3
7-3 Ethernet Communications
This section provides a description and example of connection to an OMRON
Standard PLC. Connection can be performed to an OMRON Standard PLC
using the FINS/UDP protocol.
Note Only CP1W-CIF41 Ethernet Option Boards with unit version 2.0 or later
can be used. If another Option Board is used, the G9SP-series Controller
will detect an Unsupported Option Board Error (the MS indicator will flash
red).
Use 1:1 communications (i.e., send commands from only one device).
If you use n:1 communications (i.e., if you send commands from n
devices), the CP1W-CIF41 will receive multiple commands simulta-
neously, and some commands may be discarded.
The UDP/IP protocol does not execute any controls to ensure the reliabil-
ity of communications. Therefore, if you use the FINS communications
service with UDP/IP, messages that are sent may not always reach the
destination node. It is therefore necessary to perform retry processing or
other processing in the user application to increase reliability.
If you connect many devices on the same Ethernet network, the Ethernet
network load (network congestion) may temporarily increase.
If command transmissions overlap when the Ethernet network load (net-
work congestion) is high, the CP1W-CIF41 may discard commands.
Reduce the number of devices on the same Ethernet network or increase
the number of retries for the send command.
