1. Allow the machine to start up until the set brew temperature and steam
temperature are shown on the display.
2. Switch off the machine using the on/off button.
¾ The LED ring goes out.
3. Place a large container underneath the hot water wand.
4. Open the hot water tilt valve (see Chapter 5.2.3, “Pull buttons”),
¾ The boiler water is emptied via the hot water wand.
5. Close the hot water tilt valve.
6. Rinse the boiler with fresh water (see Chapter 8.1.3, “Rinsing the
machine”).
11.7 Cleaning the brew group
Not cleaning the brew group properly could cause premature wear. Clean the
brew group as per the following instructions.
The machine has a reminder function “Cleaning Reminder” (see Chapter
10.3.8, “Cleaning Reminder”). If the function is activated, a reminder to clean
the brew group will appear on the display after a preset number of pulling
processes. Clean the brew group after having made approx. 90 to 140cups
of espresso. It is also recommended to clean the brew group once after the
machine has not been used for a relatively long stretch of time.
The following are required for cleaning the brew group:
• The cleaning brush provided
• The blind lter provided, and
• A powder detergent available at a specialist retailer for cleaning and
degreasing the brew group
11.7.1 Preparatory steps for automatic cleaning
1. Clean the brew group gasket and shower screen using the brush
provided.
2. Remove the cup lter from the portalter (see Chapter 11.1, “Cleaning the
portalter, silicone attachment, and lters”).
3. Insert the blind lter in the portalter (see Chapter 9.6, “Inserting the
silicone attachment and lters in the portalter”).
4. Fill the blind lter with 3 - 5g of the cleaning powder.
5. Insert the portalter including the blind lter and cleaning powder in
the brew group (see Chapter 9.7, “Inserting the portalter in the brew
group”).
