9.4 Filling the water tank with water
NOTICE
Damage due to overowing water
The water tank can overow and leaking water can get into the machine.
Fill the water tank to just below the edge.
Do not spill any water over the machine when lling the tank.
To ll the water tank, it can be taken out of the machine or lled directly using
a container. Only operate the machine with fresh, soft drinking water (up to 4°
dH = German degree of hardness) Do not use carbonated water.
The following messages indicate that the water needs to be topped up:
Tank is almost empty
The current drawing process is continued.
Top up with water soon.
Tank is empty
The pumping process is ended and no more water can be
drawn. Both pull buttons ash quickly.
Top up with water.
Proceed as follows to rell the tank:
1. Remove the water tank lid from the top of the machine.
2. Fill the water tank with water.
3. Place the water tank lid back on.
9.5 Pouring ground coffee into the portalter and pressing
(tamping)
When preparing an espresso, it is recommended to prepare the ground coffee
as well as possible. The tamper included in the scope of delivery can be
used to press and compact the ground coffee in the portalter. Compacting
the ground coffee ensures that the water does not take the path of least
resistance through the ground coffee (so-called channeling) and the espresso
is extracted evenly.
1. Fill the portalter with ground coffee. Use the markings in the lter to
identify the optimal amount of ground coffee.
2. Gently tapping the portalter with your ngers evenly distributes the
ground coffee in the lter.
3. Place the provided tamper on top of the ground coffee and exert an
even, controlled pressure. Do not tilt the tamper when doing this.
