The clutch Section H
facilitate adjustment. The procedure is
as
follows:
1 Using the manufacturer's gauge plate,
mount
the clutch on
the
existing, or a spare,
flywheel. Alternatively, clamp
it
down
to
a
flat
surface
with
a gauge plate occupying the
position
normally taken
by
the drive plate. The
ground
lands
of
the gauge plate should each
be
located under a release lever.

Adjust
the
levers by turning the eye
bolt
and
nuts
until the levers are
just
in contact
with
a
short straight edge resting on the boss
of
the
gauge
plate.
3 Operate the clutch several times in order
to
settle the mechanisrtl. This operation can be
carried
out
in a drilling machine or
light
press
having a
suitable adaptor arranged
to
bear upon
the
lever tips.
4 Check and readjust,
if
necessary. Lever
tip
height from
flywheel
face is
40·64mm
(1·60in)
gauge plate No.
CG
3239. The dimension is
45·24mm
(1·78in)
if
taken
with
release lever
plate
in position.
To
replace
1 Using Tool No. RT7485
as
centraliser, or
primary gear from a gearbox, position
clutch
disc and pressure plate assembly on the flywheel,
securing evenly
with
six

UNF
set screws and
lockwashers
to
a torque
of
1·66-2·07kg
m
(12-151b
ft).
Clutch operating fork, lever and
thrust pad
The operating fork is pinned in position on
the
shaft
of
the clutch lever and tube assembly
which
is pivotted through the
top
of
the gearbox
housing. To ensure that the thrust pad moves in
the correct plane,
it
is pivotted in the operating
fork and held firm by a lock spring.
To
remove
(see
Figure
1)
1 Remove gearbox,
see
Section
G.
2 Using a screwdriver prise
off
locking
washer, complete
with
plain washer, securing
clutch lever shaft
to
gearbox.
3 Tap
out
the
two
clutch
fork
retaining pins
into
the bell housing
with
a
3·175mm
(0·125in)
diameter drift.
4
Withdraw
clutch lever and shaft assembly
from gearbox and remove clutch fork.
5
Release locking spring and remove thrust
pad from operating fork.
6
Inspect thrust pad
for
wear and renew
if
the
bearing face has
worn
below
a depth
of
1·588mm
(0·060in)
or shows signs
of
scoring
or distortion.
To
replace
2
1 Refit thrust pad
to
operating fork and secure
firmly in position
with
a
new
lock spring.
2
Insert clutch lever shaft
into
gearbox
housing and
fit
operating fork.
3
Secure clutch lever shaft
to
L.H.
of
gearbox
housing
with
plain washer and
new
locking
washer.
4
Align
the retaining pin holes
of
the operating
fork
with
those in the clutch lever shaft and
then secure operating fork in position
with
two
new
retaining pins, tapping firmly home
with
a 3·175mm
(0·125in)
dia. drift.
5
Replace gearbox.
The pedal assembly
To
remove
1 Remove split pin,
withdraw
clevis pin and
washer and disconnect clutch cable clevis
from clutch pedal.
2
Unhook
accelerator cable lug from pedal,
release plastic
grommet from pedal and
withdraw
accelerator cable.
3 Prise
out
rubber grommet, located on the
top
R.H.
of
the engine compartment,
to
gain
access
to
the split pin, securing brake master
cylinder clevis
to
brake pedal. Remove split pin
and washer.
4 From inside
footwall
withdraw
clevis pin and
disconnect master cylinder clevis from brake
pedal.
5 Disconnect brake
light
switch
leads.

Remove

UNF
set screws and
two

UNF
nuts, complete
with
lockwashers and
plain washers, securing pedal assembly and
master
cylinder
to
body.
7
Carefully
withdraw
the pedal assembly
forwards, in the footwall,
to
clear the
two
weld
bolts
of
the pedal mounting bracket, from the
body
and master cylinder.
8 Manoeuvre pedal assembly
to
clear steering
column and remove from footwall.
To
dismantle
pedal
assembly
(see
Figure
2)
1 Release brake pedal return spring from pedal
and mounting bracket assembly.
2 Remove
two
split pins, drive
out
brake and
clutch
pivot
shaft through L.H. side plate
of
mounting bracket, and
withdraw
brake and
