Testing pressure relief valve in filler cap
Fit cooling system tester - V.A.G 1274 B- with adapter -
V.A.G 1274/9- onto filler cap.
Build up pressure with hand pump on cooling system tester.
The pressure relief valve must open at a pressure of 1.6 to
1.8 bar.
Renew filler cap if pressure relief valve does not open as de‐
scribed.
1.4 Flushing cooling system
Note
The coolant must be drained before the system is flushed.
Then the cooling system must be filled with distilled water.
The cooling system is flushed with 20 l of distilled water. Then,
the distilled water is replaced by coolant (mixture ratio 50:50).
Never reuse old coolant.
