3.3.3.1 USB connection
The safe multibeam scanner has a USB connection for comprehensive configuration
and dia
gnostics on a computer. You need the Safety Designer software provided by
SICK to do this.

The USB connection may only be used temporarily and only for configuration and diag‐
nostics. The USB connection can also be used to supply voltage during configuration or
diagnostics.
NOTE
Pr
otect the USB connection against dust using the supplied USB cover while you are not
using the USB connection for configuration or diagnostics.

3.3.3.2 Near Field Communication (NFC)
The safe multibeam scanner has an integrated NFC interface to transfer data to an
NF
C-capable mobile device. You need the Safety Assistant app provided by SICK to do
this.
You can read already verified configurations from one device and transfer them to other
devices via the NFC interface. You can also display the most important data for easy
diagnosis.
