How to Edit the Density (SG) Setting
Use the [Density SG] menu cell to edit the nominal specific gravity of the selected liquid. This allows the
flow computer to provide a flow rate output in mass units, if required. This mode suits applications where
the density is not only known, but also fixed, due to well-controlled liquid temperature and chemistry. The
default specific gravity setting is 1.000. The flow computer uses the liquid’s specific gravity to form a
multiplier for the conversion of volumetric flow to mass flow. Mass flow appears (in selected units) on the
display screen. [Density SG] (as it applies to this system) is defined as the ratio of the mass of this liquid
to the mass of an equal volume of water at 20
°C or 68°F.

Steam Condensate Measurement
FUE1010EN Energy flowmeters with operating systems version 3.01.06B and later now include sup-
port for the measurement of Steam Condensate. By measuring the temperature and output flow of
water from a condensate receiver, the 1010 clamp-on system is capable of providing a measurement
of steam energy transfer. This method avoids the high cost associated with the installation of an inser-
tion type steam meter.
To achieve the best energy measurement accuracy, it is recommended that both the supply and return
temperature be provided to the flowmeter, using either clamp-on or insertion type RTDs. If measurement
of the steam supply temperature is not possible (or too costly) then a fixed nominal supply temperature
value may be used to improve the accuracy of the energy calculation. (This can be accomplished via
the analog inputs, if available.)
If possible, install the ultrasonic transducers onto a section of pipe that does not go empty when the
condensate pump is in an off cycle. An ideal location may be a vertical section of pipe close to the
receiver, providing sufficient straight pipe run is available.
Configuring the FUE1010EN Energy Flowmeter for Steam Condensate
