6.3.5 Selecting and adjusting tools
The user must use the tools in a crop-friendly manner. In the course
of the season, as the height of growth, the roots and the resistance
of the crop increase, the weed control tools can be adjusted more
aggressively.
Targets:
n Controlling weeds in a crop-friendly manner.
n Keeping the uncultivated strip as narrow as possible.
Preconditions:
n The tools on the hoeing elements are selected to suit the crop.
To protect the crops, protection discs or protection shield are
installed.
n In the eld: The width of the working range (the strip to be culti‐
vated) between the crops is measured.
n To cultivate the row before the next row in outward and return
travel, the outer hoeing elements are equipped with half or two
thirds of the tools (e. g. 2 instead of 3 knives).
