5 INTERFACE
5.1 INTRODUCTION
This section describes the signal connections for communication between your cutter
and the host computer. When connecting the cutter to the host computer, always
proceed as follows:
1. Refer to the cutting/plotting application software documentation and check the
recommended cabling specifications.
2. If the documentation of the cutting/plotting software does not contain specific
cabling instructions, use the Summa cable specifications recommended for your
computer.
Depending on the type of SummaCutter a serial and Parallel or a Serial and USB
connection is available. When both ports are connecting at the same time, only the port
that receives the first data will stay active and deactivates the other port. Switching to
the other port to send information can only be archived when the SummaCut is
switched off and again on.
5.2 RS232 INTERFACE NOTES
5.2.1 SYSTEM SETUP
This section explains the setting of the serial port on your computer, if there is chosen
for a serial connection. Minimum System requirement are WIN95 or WIN 98.
