er. The 500W lamp requires removal of the stan-
dard 350W socket holder, exchange of socket
cooling nozzles (for both sockets) and installation
of an exhaust tube at the lower part of the lamp
house.
See section lamp cooling in Installation for de-
tailed requirements.
Refitting to 500W must be done by a trained
SUSS technician only.
Warning!
Electric hazards and very intense light
present in the lamp house 350W.
Never open the 350W lamp house when
the machine is still switched on!
Regular lamp replacement in the 350W lamp house
is comparable to replacement in lamp house 100/
1500W:
• See all warnings above and in the chapter Warn-
ings.
• Switch off the main switch.
• Wait until the lamp has cooled down.
• Get access to the lamp house by dismantling the
heat protection covers at the sides of the lamp
house.
• Unscrew the securing screws on top of the lamp
house, and tilt the upper part open.
• Be very careful in handling the lamp and the mir-
rors.
• Disconnect the wire on the lower lamp socket.
• Unscrew the lamp from the lamp holder and re-
move lamp.
• Take the new lamp from its box, detach the nuts
and screw the lamp to the lamp holder - observ
-
ing polarity (negative end in the holder for all
lamps except 500W deppUV - UXM510MD).
• Fasten the lamp to the holder only hand-screwed
• Re-connect the positive terminal wire - if signs of
degradation are visible, replace such electrical
connection parts.
• Check function of the socket cooling nozzle
• Close the lamp house and secure it with the top
screw.
• Re-install the heat portection covers at the lamp
house.
2.5. Replacement of the
Microscope Lamp
Depending on the type of lamp house the halogen
lamp for microscope illumination is located
• in front top of the lamp house 1000W, where
the glass fibre light guide is connected or
• in an extra lamp box located on back of the
lamp house 350W
The replacement procedure is the same for both lo-
cations:
Exchange of the lamp:
• Loosen the two knurled screws of the lamp hold-
er and pull out the holder carefully.
• Plug off the connection cable of the lamp.
• Loosen the lamp clamping on the holder and re-
move the lamp.
• Insert new lamp and re-insert holder plate.
Caution!
The illumination lamp could be very hot
after use.
Let the lamp cool down for some min-
utes. Switch off the main switch of the
machine or disconnect at least the lamp
supply unit during lamp exchange.
Replace always by identical lamp type.
Watch for intense light near to the lamp,
as well
as at the output of the fiber optic
cable!
This could harm your eyes!
