2.7.2. Hazardous Materials and
Solid Waste
Potentially hazardous materials used at the
machine are (see also the Hazard Warning Section
of this manual for more detailed description as well
as for safety measures - especially the subsections
Chemical Hazards and Mechanical Hazards):
• The UV lamp, which contains toxic Mercury (spill-
ing at glass breakage), which is highly pressur-
ized when hot, and which is extremely hot during
lighting and for some time after switching off.
• Process materials - if toxic - classification of toxic
material for his personnel is the responsibility of
the user.
• Sharp broken fragments of process material.
• Liquid cleaning agents including used solvents
and soaked tissues.
Solid waste resulting from machine use are:
• The UV lamp (containing mercury and to be dis-
posed as special waste according to local regula-
tions)
• the Halogen lamp,
• Cleaning material (refer to the appropriate sec-
tion in this manual for more details).
2.7.3. Service Exchange of Heavy
Subassemblies
The following subassemblies have been identified
for special handling requirements, and must be dis
-
mounted, mounted and transported only by 2 per-
sons:
• TSA (top side microscope), weighting 20 - 22 kg
(6” or 8”);
• Lamp supply CIC1200, weighting 20 kg
• computer unit, weighting 28 kg.
