8-6 TRANSMISSION AND CRANKSHAFT
CRANKSHAFT
• Remove the crankshaft with the special tool.
" 09920-13120: Crankcase separating tool
NOTE:
* Keep all the tool arms parallel to the crankcase surface.
INSPECTION
GEARSHIFT SHAFT
• Inspect the gearshift shaft for bends and damage.
• Inspect the return spring for damage.
GEARSHIFT CAM DRIVEN GEAR
• Inspect the pawls, springs and pins for damage.
TRANSMISSION
• Inspect the gear teeth, claws, and gearshift grooves for
abnormal wear and damage.
• Inspect the bushings and splines for abnormal wear and dis-
coloration.
