TELOS TWOX12 USER’S MANUAL
DETAILED CONFIGURATION & REFERENCE
CHAPTER 7 117
Telco
This item allows for the selection of the ISDN protocol standard and takes one of
four values. You must set this to correspond to the ISDN circuits you are using.
h
HOT TIP!
The Telco setting applies to all of your ISDN circuits. If you are not using ISDN you can
ignore this menu item.
For Europe and many other parts of the world
• ETS 300. This is the very common “Euro ISDN,” according to the ETS 300
standard.
For USA & Canada and a few other parts of the world
• Natl. I-1. National ISDN-1 is the most common protocol for USA & Canada
and some other parts of the world. May also be used with lines conforming to
National ISDN-2.
• DMS-100. For the Nortel DMS-100 switch in “custom functional” lines
• AT&T 5ESS. This is the AT&T PTP protocol, sometimes called “AT&T
custom Point-to-Point.”
i
ISDN TIP!
The AT&T PTP protocol generally does not allow two simultaneous voice calls. For
this reason we recommend that the National ISDN –1 protocol be used if you are on
the AT&T/Lucent 5ESS Telco switch.
w
IMPORTANT!
• If you are in Europe or most of South America, you should choose ETS 300
• If you have Net64 ISDN in Japan you should choose Natl.I- 1 but leave the SPIDs
blank
• If you are in Hong Kong you should choose AT&T 5ESS
• If you are in the USA or Canada use whichever protocol your phone company has
provided. If you do not know, you may be able to guess, see the next ISDN TIP!
