[ 1 ] Booting
An MFP is booted by turning the power on by means of the main power switch or the [ON/OFF] button.
During booting (warming up), various operations for the preparation are carried out to make the state of
the MFP become operable. After warming up has been completed and the MFP goes into in the ready
state, “Copying” is displayed on the screen.
Major operations for the preparation during warming up
• Starting the operation of units, motors, sensor and lamp and checking that they are operating
properly
• Positioning units and moving them to their home position
• Starting the heating of the fuser unit
• Preparing the system such as the display of the touch panel and the connection of the network
• Checking the toner density in the developer unit
• Performing image quality control
[ 2 ] Energy saving
If an MFP is at the ready state, but left unused for a certain period under certain conditions, it is shifted
into the energy saving status in accordance with the settings of the self-diagnostic codes. There are
multiple energy saving statuses and their standby power supply level differs. In comparison with the
ready state, the standby power supply level becomes lower in the order of the Automatic Energy Save
mode, Sleep mode and then Super Sleep mode.
The following table shows the detailed information for each mode.
