8.1.2 Mandrel adjustment
Mandrel adjustment with cylindrical plug gauge
Because of different materials or because of insufficient bow quality it might be
necessary to readjust the mandrel.
1. Take back the mandrel, if bow is over-stretched or if the mandrel transfers
loud chatter noise. Undo the counter nut (back end of mandrel rod) from the
carriage of mandrel and turn in the mandrel rod for about 2 rotations
(shortening). Then screw down the counter nut again.
2. If bow is not round outside (flat), perform steps described above, but turn out
the mandrel rod (extending) carefully. First consider mandrel’s normal
position, then turn it out for ½ rotation.
