Transient and steady state earth leakage cu rrents, which m ay occur w hen the eq uipm ent is
started, should be taken into account in the selectio n of instantaneou s R C C B s or RC D devices.
RC C B w hich is sensitive to un idirectional DC pulse (class A) and insensitive to transient state
curren t pulse m ust be selected.
N ote also that the earth leakage cu rrents of the load will be carried by the RC C Bs or R C D s.
Th e equipm ent m ust be earthed in accordance with the local electrical code of practice.
W ARN ING ! B ackfeeding protection
Th is U P S is fitted with a dry con tact closure sig nal for use with an external auto m atic
disconnect device (supplied by others) to protect against backfeedin g voltage in to the
incom ing term inal through the rectifier or byp ass static sw itch circuit. A label m ust be ad ded
at all external incom ing prim ary supply d iscon nect d evice to warn service p ersonnel that the
circuit is co nnected to the UPS. The text of the lab el has the follow ing m eaning: R isk of
voltage backfeed! Isolate the U P S, then check for hazardous voltage betw een all term inals
including the p rotective earth before working on this circuit.
W ARN ING ! T he selection of the upstream distribution protection eq uipm ent of the U P S shall
be selected in accordance w ith the local electrical reg ulations.
W ARN ING ! U ser serviceable com p onents (For service personnel)
All eq uipm ent m aintenance and servicing procedu res involving internal access requires the
use of a tool and should be carried out only by trained personnel. T here are no user-
serviceab le p arts behind covers requirin g a to ol/key for rem oval.
W ARN ING ! B attery voltage exceeds 400 Vdc (For service personnel)
All physical battery m aintenance and servicing procedu res requires the u se of a tool/key and
should be carried out only b y trained personnel.
Take special care when working with the batteries asso ciated with this U P S. W hen connected,
the b attery term inal voltage will exceed 400 V dc and is potentially lethal.
Battery m anufacturers su pp ly details of the necessary p recautions to be observed in working
on, or in the vicinity of, a large b ank of battery cells. T hese precautions should be follow ed
im p licitly. P articular atten tion sh ould be paid to the recom m endations con cerning local
environm ental cond itions and the provision of protective clo thing, first aid and fire-fighting
facilities.
