Chapter 3: Configuration 3.6 Setting the Configuration
493-0736-11 (6-2) 107
Pulse
The output Pulse generates pulses. If the value of Signal is great, the pulses come
often, and if the value of Signal is small, the pulses come seldomly. If the value
of Signal is less than or equal to zero, no pulses are generated. An internal pulse
counter (IPC) keeps track of how many pulses have been generated.
Overflow and OverflowLimit
By setting the parameter OverflowLimit, the user can determine how many pulses
are generated before the Overflow pulse is generated. (The parameter
OverflowLimit determines the height of the tank.) The relationship between IPC
and OverflowLimit is:
0 IPC OverflowLimit
When IPC = OverflowLimit, the Overflow pulse is generated.
Pulse Width
The pulse width (of both Pulse and Overflow) is always equal to the parameter
SampleTime.
Time and TimeUnit
The parameter Time defines the period of time between two consecutive pulses at
a Signal of 1.00. The parameter TimeUnit determines the unit of Time: seconds or
minutes. (The parameter Time corresponds to the radius of the tank. The greater
the radius, the slower the water level will rise.)
The permissible range of Time is as follows:
Time
min
Time Time
max
Time
max
always has the same value
Time
max
= 86 400 seconds = 1 440 minutes = 24 hours = 1 day
...while the setting of SampleTime affects Time
min
Timemin = 3 × SampleTime seconds = × SampleTime minutes
Val ue
Va lu e represents the accumulated value of Signal over time. Val ue will increase
from 0.00 to 1.00 at a Signal of 1.00 in Time
× OverflowLimit TimeUnit (Val ue is
the level in the tank measured in percent of full tank).
Example:
If TimeUnit = seconds, Time = 6.00 and OverflowLimit = 10, then it will take
60.00 (6.00
×10) seconds for Va lue to increase from 0.00 to 1.00 at Signal of 1.00.
