Feed Forward
The Feed Forward function block has one analog input, FeedForwardSignal, and
three parameters – Mode, Gain and Reset.
Table 106 Feed Forward Inputs.
The parameter Mode sets the mode of operation, Off, Static Gain or Adaptive
Gain.
The Gain parameter can be configured within the range –10.0 to +10.0, but is
obsolete when Adaptive Feed Forward is used.
When the Reset parameter is set to OK the internal parameters for the Adaptive
Feed Forward function are reset.
Table 107 Feed Forward Parameters.
Note: If the controller is moved to another control application you must reset the
Adaptive Feed Forward.
When using Feed Forward, a term (u
FF
) is added to the signal produced by the
PID algorithm (u
PID
), and these two make the ControlSignal (u):
u = u
PID
+ u
FF
The term, u
FF
, is a product where the FeedForwardSignal is multiplied by a
factor (Gain):
u
FF
= FeedForwardSignal × Gain
