Optimizing Measurement Results
Increasing Dynamic Range
Increasing Dynamic Range
Dynamic range is the difference between the analyzer's maximum allowable input level and minimum
measurable power. For a measurement to be valid, input signals must be within these boundaries. The
dynamic range is affected by these factors:
• test port input power
• test port noise floor
• receiver crosstalk
Increase the Test Port Input Power
You can increase the analyzer's source output power so that the test device output power is at the top of the
measurement range of the analyzer test port.
Press and enter the new source power level, followed by .
CAUTION Do not exceed the maximum test port power level that is printed on the front panel of your
network analyzer. Exceeding this maximum power level may damage your analyzer.
Reduce the Receiver Noise Floor
Refer to "Reducing Noise" on page 5-15.
Reduce the Receiver Crosstalk
Refer to "Reducing Receiver Crosstalk" on page 5-18.
