•
If there is a significant difference between one stage and another (other than 15 V), this
means that the alternator is defective and must be replaced.
CAUTION
WITH THE ENGINE HOT THE VALUES RECORDED ARE ON AVERAGE 4-5 V LESS THAN THOSE
DETECTED WITH THE ENGINE COLD.

Short circuit current
•
For a correct detection of the short cir-
cuit current, a connector must be pre-
pared that generates a downstream
short circuit between the three alterna-
tor cables;
•
Start the engine and with an ammeter
clamp measure each single cable.
•
If there is a significant difference be-
tween the measure of the single cables
(other than 10 A), this means that the
alternator is defective and must be re-
placed.
CAUTION
WITH THE ENGINE HOT THE VALUES RECORDED ARE
ON AVERAGE 2-3 A LESS THAN THOSE DETECTED WITH
THE ENGINE COLD.
WARNING
NEVER KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING FOR MORE THAN
ONE MINUTE; FAILURE TO DO SO COULD CAUSE SERI-
OUS OVERHEATING DAMAGES TO THE MOTORCYCLE
CIRCUITS.
