Setting Up and Testing the MAX Hardware
Interpreting the MAX LEDs
Table 2-1 lists the LEDs on the front-panel of the MAX and describes the function each LED
performs.
Table 2-1. MAX front-panel LEDs
LED Description
Power On when the MAX power is on.
Fault On in one of two cases: A hardware self-test in progress or a hardware failure.
At system start-up, when the MAX performs its Power On Self Test (POST), the
LED is on. If any type of hardware failure occurs, the LED flashes. If the failure is
isolated to an expansion card, the MAX might continue to function without the
card.
Data On when calls are active.
Alarm On indicates a WAN alarm or a trunk out of service (for example, during line
loopback diagnostics.) WAN alarms include Loss of Sync, Red Alarm, Yellow
Alarm, and All Ones (or AIS).
