Example connection to a port on a slave
With the following configuration,
an authorized user could use SSH to access the second port on a
second slave:
A cluster has two slave units.
Both slave units are configured with the same Local IP address of 172.36.14.2.
Both the slave units are configured with the SSH protocol.
The master and the first slave unit each have 16 ports.
The default TCP port numbers (7001-7016) are in effect on the master and on the first slave.
For the first slave unit, the First Local TCP Port No. (the virtual TCP port number) is
configured as 7017.
For the second slave unit, the virtual TCP port number is configured as 7033.
The default TCP port number of the second port on the second slave is 7002.
The following command line example uses the ssh command with 172.36.14.2 as the IP address,
7002 as the TCP port number and 7034 as the virtual TCP port number to make a root user
connection to the second port on the second slave:
ssh -l root:7002 172.36.14.2 -p 7034
To configure console server clusters [Expert]:
Perform this procedure to cluster console servers and add or modify ports.
NOTE: The console servers should be connected individually to an IP network. The units should not be
cascaded.
1. Select Expert - Ports - Virtual Ports and click the Add button to add a slave or click the Edit
button to edit a slave. The New/Modify Port dialog box appears.
Remote IP The actual fixed IP address configured on the slave.
First Remote TCP Port Number (Optional) The first TCP port number configured on the slave. The
defau
lt is 7001.
Protocol The communication protocol that must be used for any connections to
the slave.
The options are Telnet or SSH. For example, if SSH is
specified, an authorized user can make a direct connection to one of
the ports on the slave only by using an SSH client or ssh on the
command line. All ports on the slave must be configured with the same
connection protocol, either Console(Telnet) or Console(SSH) under
Expert - Ports - Physical Ports.
Port Names Click to assign aliases to the slave serial ports.
