a slave.
Figure 9.6: Ports - Virtual Ports - New/Modify Port Dialog Box (for Slave Configuration)
Table 9.12: New/Modify Port Dialog Box Fields (for Slave Configuration)
Field/Button Name Definition
Number of Ports Number of ports on the slave.
First Local Port Number The first unallocated port number to assign to the first port on the slave.
F
or example, if the master unit has 16 ports, ports 1-16 are already
allocated, and the First Local Port Number could be 17. When more
than one slave is configured, the Local Port Numbers do not need to be
sequential but they should not overlap port numbers configured for
previously configured slaves. For example, If the master unit has 16
ports and the first slave has 16 ports, and you entered 17 as the First
Local Port number for the first slave, you could enter 33 as the First
Local Port number for the second slave.
Local IP The public IP address configured for
the console server.
First Local TCP Port No. The first unallocated TCP port number to assign to the first port on the
slave as a vir
tual TCP port number. The remaining ports are assigned
numbers in the sequence that begins with the First Local TCP Port No.
For example, if the master unit has 16 ports and the default TCP port
numbers 7001-7016 are allocated to the master, the First Local TCP
Port No. could then be specified as 7017. The number of the second
port would be 7018, and so forth. When more than one slave is
configured, the First Local TCP Port Number must be based on the
TCP port numbers configured for previously configured slaves. The
numbers do not need to be sequential, but the numbers must not
overlap.
