Add Users and Configure Ports with the Web Manager
NOTE: From the factory, the console server is configured with all serial ports disabled.
An administrator can add users, enable and configure serial ports and authorize users and groups to
access ports. For more information on how to manage users and ports, see Web Manager Security
Menu Options on page 61 and Web Manager Ports Menu Options on page 69.
For more information on how regular users access the Web Manager to manage devices, perform
power management and change their own passwords, see Chapter 3.
Other Ways to Access the Web Manager
You can access the Web Manager with either a DHCP-assigned IP address or the default IP

NOTE: Web Manager access with either DHCP or the default IP address requires additional setup and

To use the default IP address to access the Web Manager:
The default IP address for the console server is 192.168.160.10. This procedure assumes that you

1. On a computer that resides on the same subnet as the console server, change the network
portion of the IP address of that computer to 192.168.160. For the host portion of the IP
address, you can use any number except 10, 0 or 255.
2. Open a browser on the computer with the changed address. Enter the console server’s default
IP address, http://192.168.160.10, to bring up the Web Manager and log in.
