Forward/reversePower-Shuttlelever(traveldirectionchange)
Toselecttheforwardtravel,engagetherequiredgearra-
tiowiththegearshiftlever,withtheengineidling,shiftthe
Power-Shuttleleverfromtheneutrallockposition(1)to
theforwardposition(2).Usetheacceleratorpedaltocon-
troltheenginerpmandthegroundspeed.
Toreversethedirectionoftravel,reduceenginespeed
andshiftthePower-Shuttleleverfromtheneutrallock
position(1)rearwards(3).Forreversetravelanaudible
alarmdevicesounds.
NOTICE:ThePower-Shuttleleverisequippedwithaneu-
trallocktopreventanaccidentalengagementofthetrans-
mission.Withthisdesign,thePower-Shuttlelevermoves
througha“T”slottotheforwardorreversepositions.
NOTICE:Whenoperatingatlowenvironmentaltempera-
tureswithcoldtransmissionoil,allowtheoiltowarmup
beforeattemptingtoshiftthePower-Shuttlelever.The
transmissioncanbeshiftednormallyaftertheoilwarms
up.
NOTICE:ThePower-Shuttlelevercanbeshiftedat
anyenginespeed,however,asasafetyandprecau-
tionarymeasure,theenginemustrunatapproximately
1200RPM.Thisactioniseasilycontrolledbyusingthe
footaccelerator.

Transmissiondisconnection
The4F-4Rtransmissionprovidesforeasyupwardand
downwardgearratiochangesonthemove.However,as
aclutchisnotusedbetweentheengineandtransmis-
sion,thepowerowfromtheenginetothetransmission
mustbeinterruptedtoshiftfromonegearratiotoanother.
Thisisaccomplishedbyusingatransmissiondisconnect
(dump)button.Thengeroperatedbutton(2)onthemain
gearshiftleverknob(1)iseasytooperate.
WARNING
Lossofcontrolhazard!
Donotdepressthetransmissionpressure
releasebuttonorattempttotakethemachine
outofgearwhengoingupordownahill.
Avoid"freewheeling."
Failuretocomplycouldresultindeathorse-
riousinjury.

Tomakeupwardgearratiochangessimplypressandhold
thebutton(2)onthegearshiftlever(1),whilemovingthe
leverfromonegearratiotoanother.Whenthedesired
gearratiohasbeenselected,releasethebuttonandallow
theunittogainspeed.Ifanotherratioisrequiredrepeat
theprocedure.
