F180R MOTION Sensor User and Reference Guide
If the system takes a long time to initialise, with the message 'Sat Constellation Too Poor', this
is because the satellites that the system can see are in a poor configuration for determining
the baseline orientation. If the view of part of the sky is obscured (by hills, buildings, etc),
consider changing the vessel position. If the system takes a long time to initialise with the
messages 'No Master', 'No Slave', 'Lost Master' or 'Lost Slave', this may mean that the view of
satellites is obscured, or that multipath effects are being experienced by the GPS receiver in
the F180R System. Again, the fix would be to move the vessel to a position that minimises
multipath; you may also want to check that the GNSS antennas are mounted as high as
possible on the vessel, and clear of obstructions.
Figure 99: Heading Initialisation In Progress
The Progress Bar gives a graphical representation on the heading initialisation. This process is
highly non-linear so the last few ambiguities will take much longer to resolve than the first
few. The field to the left of the progress bar displays the number of ambiguities left to be
resolved. When this number reaches 1, the heading is initialised and the field will report
Finished.
The Search Parameters area displays status information describing the current Heading
Initialisation.
The Duration field displays the time taken for the current (or last) heading initialisation.
The Search Type field displays the type of search in use. This can be one of the five
following options:
