Changing or Deleting a Power-on Password
at the Power-on Password Prompt
1. Turn on (do not restart) the computer.
2. At the password prompt

To change a power-on password
—Type the old
password followed by a forward slash (“/”), the new
password followed by a forward slash, then the new
password followed by a forward slash. For example, if you
are changing your password from “old password” to “new
password,” type:
old password/new password/new password

To delete a power-on password
—Type the password
followed by a forward slash (“/”). For example, if you are
deleting the password “old password,” type:
old password/
Entering a Power-on Password
At the power-on password prompt, type the password using the
same keys you used to set the password, then press
Enter.
After 3
unsuccessful attempts to enter the password, you must restart the
computer and try again.
