Using a Setup (Administrator) Password
This password

Is called a
setup
password in Computer Setup and an
administrator
password in Compaq Computer Security.
■
Protects the configuration settings and system identification
information in both the Computer Setup and Compaq
Computer Security utilities. Once set, this password must be
entered to

Access Computer Setup.
❏
Access any display in Compaq Computer Security that
contains system settings.
■
Can be up to 7 alphanumeric characters, is not case sensitive,
and can be the same as any other 7-character password.

Can be set, changed, or deleted in Computer Setup.
■
Can be set in Compaq Computer Security, but can be changed
or deleted only in Computer Setup.

1. Turn on or restart the computer, then press
F10
when the
blinking cursor appears upper-right on the screen.
