Compaq System Configuration Utility
The Compaq System Configuration utility performs a wide range of
configuration activities including the following:
■ Configures ISA and PCI boards automatically
■ Provides switch and jumper settings
■ Resolves resource conflicts in areas such as memory, port addresses,
and interrupts (IRQs)
■ Manages the installation of memory, processor upgrades, and mass
storage devices such as hard drives, tape drives, and diskette drives
■ Sets and stores power-on features such as date and time
■ Stores configuration information in non-volatile memory
■ Assists in the installation of the operating system
■ Assists in running diagnostic tools such as TEST and INSPECT Utilities
Installing an Operating System
Compaq ProLiant 5500 and 5500R servers support the following operating
systems:
■ Novell NetWare 4.2 and NetWare 5
■ Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0, and Windows 95 or later
■ SCO OpenServer 5.04 and 5.05
■ SCO UnixWare 2.12 and 2.13
■ IBM OS/2 2.x, Warp family of products
■ Banyan VINES v 7.x, 8.0, and 8.5
When you select the Operating System Installation feature from the System
Configuration Utility main menu, the utility provides prompts to simplify the
installation.
