When creating a new FFT test in EDM DSA software, the first option should be
enabled to implement the multi-resolution spectrum in the new test.
The image below shows the APS of two sine tone excitations (25 Hz and 50 Hz)
calculated using the regular spectrum and the multi-resolution spectrum.
The blue curve (multi-resolution) is much more accurate as shown above. The
peaks are much sharper at the 25 Hz and 50 Hz frequencies. Also, the finer
resolution with the multi-resolution spectrum allows the user to see more realistic
and fluctuating nature of the APS in the lower frequency region.
