Starting and stopping the engine
Due to the dierent technical standards that
exist, it may not be possible to charge the
high-voltage battery at charging stations in
other countries, or it may only be possible with
a suitable charging cable. You can get more
information from a specialised CUPRA dealer
or any SEAT network dealer.
WARNING
As altitude increases, air density decreases.
Due to the reduced air density, engine per-
formance may be reduced and vehicle com-
ponents may be damaged during prolonged
operation at very high altitudes. Reduced en-
gine power can lead to accidents and serious
or fatal injuries, e.g. when overtaking.
●
Before travelling abroad, especially at alti-
tudes above 3,000m (approx. 9,843ft) above
sea level, please contact a specialised CUPRA
dealer or any dealer in the SEAT network for
more information.
NOTICE
●
CUPRA cannot be held liable for any dam-
age to the vehicle due to insuicient work or
of lack of availability of genuine spare parts.
●
CUPRA accepts no liability if the vehicle
does not meet the legal requirements in
force in other countries and continents, or
if it only partially meets them.
Starting and stopping the
engine
Switching the ignition on/o
Fig.114 On the steering wheel: start
button.
The engine can be started with a start button
(Press & Drive). For this there must be a valid
key inside the passenger compartment.
Opening the driver's door when exiting the ve-
hicle activates the electronic lock on the steer-
ing column if the ignition is switched o. For
vehicles with automatic transmission, the col-
umn will only be locked if the parking lock P is
activated.
Switching the ignition on/o
If you only want to switch on the ignition (with-
out starting the engine):
●
Vehicles with automatic gearbox: briey
press the start button once without pressing
the brake pedal ››› .
Automatic ignition disconnection
When the vehicle detects that there is no
driver once the engine has stopped, after a
certain time the ignition is switched o au-
tomatically. If at that time the dipped beam
headlights are on, the side lights will stay
on for approx. 30 minutes. The side lights
can be turned o by blocking the vehicle
›››page104, or manually ›››page130.
Automatic deactivation of the ignition on
vehicles with the Start-Stop system
The ignition is switched o automatically when
the vehicle is stopped and the automatic en-
gine shutdown is active, if:
●
the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
●
the driver does not step on any pedal,
●
the driver door is opened.
After automatically turning o the ignition, if
the dipped beam is on, the side light re-
mains on for approx. 30 minutes (if the battery
has enough charge). If the driver locks the ve-
hicle or manually turns o the light, the side
light goes out.
