Troubleshooting from Symptoms
This section provides M4100 troubleshooting guidance based upon observed
malfunction symptoms. Find the observed symptom in Table 4.4, and take the
suggested action(s) to solve the problem.

Symptom Suggested Action
M4100 does not power up
properly
In a normal power-up sequence:
• Front panel Power indicator comes
on and stays on.
• Front panel Processor indicator
flashes about once per second until
M4200c communications is
established, then comes on and stays
on.
• Front panel Heater indicator remains
off.
If power-up is abnormal:
1. Check F1, a 4-A fuse, as described in
”LVPS Fuses” on page 4-52.
2. Check fuses F1 and F2 on the
Heater/Temperature Controller Board as
shown in Figure 4.41 on page 4-80.
3. Check the power supply voltages as
described in ”Low-Voltage Power
Checkout” on page 4-51.
