9 Replacing the Ink Line
9.1 What You Will Need
1/2 inch open-end wrench
5/8 inch or 7/8 inch open-end wrench
9.2 Preparation
1. Power off the Model 5200/5400 and disconnect the power cable.
2. Let the print station and printhead cool for about two hours.
9.3 Removal
1. Remove the ink line from the back of the printhead using the
strain relief provided.
2. Remove the print station enclosure front cover.
3. Identify which ink line will be replaced inside the enclosure, and
disconnect its connector from the printhead volt board.
4. Remove the ink line from the ink line adapter fitting on the ink
delivery module. See Section 6, Replacing the Ink Delivery
Module (IDM). This may require two wrenches to make sure the
ink adapter fitting does not loosen from the ink delivery module.
5. Remove the plastic nut on the ink line strain relief, and slide the
assembly from the bottom of the enclosure.
9.4 Replacement
1. Slide the new ink line assembly through the bottom of the
enclosure, securing the strain relief with the plastic nut provided.
2. Pull enough ink line through the strain relief to make the
necessary connections.
3. Connect the ink line to the ink line adapter fitting. Tighten it
finger-tight, and then turn it an additional 1/8 turn with a wrench.
4. Connect the electrical fitting to the appropriate printhead volt
board connector.
5. Tidy up the inside of the enclosure, and secure the plastic ink
line strain relief.
6. Connect the ink line at the printhead. Be careful not to cross-
thread the ink line fitting.
