1 Troubleshooting Guidelines
CAUTION: Electrical and electronic troubleshooting must be
performed by personnel trained to troubleshoot electrical
circuits. Personnel are endangered when they exceed the
limitations of their training. Electronic components are
sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Take the necessary
precautions when handling subassemblies.
Remove electrical power before troubleshooting or servicing the
system, unless a procedure instructs otherwise.
For example, the system must be powered on to:
• Observe Fault and Warning messages displayed on the Top
Level menu.
• Observe signal lights and LED indicators on the user interface
module and the rear of the printhead.
• Use the Machine Diagnostics menu to troubleshoot various
coder problems and to observe set points, actual values, and
state of the ink system components.
• Check test points for VAC and VDC.
2 Error and Warning Messages
If the coder detects a warning condition, a warning message will
appear on the display, but the coder will continue printing. If the
coder detects an error condition, an error message will appear on
the display, and printing will typically stop.
The Error Conditions menu (Main Menu/Machine Setup/ Error
Conditions) allows the user to enable and disable some non-critical
errors and warnings. However, the user is strongly advised to
enable all the errors and warnings at all times to take full advantage
of the diagnostic potential of the software.
For detailed information about errors and warnings, refer to
document 10019996 (Fault Messages) enclosed with this manual.
