4 Replacing the Printhead
4.1 What You Will Need
• Phillips screwdriver
• Allen wrench
4.2 Preparation
1. Disable the printhead in the Setup menu.
2. Power off the Model 5200/5400 and disconnect the power
cable.
3. Let the printhead cool for about two hours before handling it.
4.3 Removal
1. Disconnect the ground screw (1, Figure 6-4).
2. Disconnect the red (2A, Figure 6-4) and gray (2B, Figure 6-4)
vacuum lines.
NOTE: To prevent damage to the O-ring, be sure to press the
release on the quick disconnect when disconnecting or connecting
vacuum lines.
3. Disconnect the data cable (3, Figure 6-4).
4. Disconnect the ink line (4, Figure 6-4).
5. Loosen the printhead mounting clamp and remove the
printhead (5, Figure 6-4).
4.4 Replacement
1. Connect the printhead, reversing the steps in Removal,
paragraph 3.3.
NOTES:
• Be sure not to confuse the red and gray vacuum lines. Put them
back in their original position.
• To prevent damage to the O-ring, be sure to press the release on
the quick disconnect when disconnecting or connecting vacuum
lines.
• Be careful not to cross-thread the ink line fitting.
