Definition of maintenance concepts
Inspection
Perform inspections at regular intervals and ob-
serve the following specifications.
Visual inspection
Perform a visual inspection before every use and in
accordance with your hospital’s policy.
1 Make sure that the housing is not cracked or
broken and there are no signs of spilled liquids
or damage.
2 Inspect all accessories (for example, sensors
and cables). Do not use if there are any signs of
damage.
3 Turn the monitor on and make sure the
backlight is bright enough.
4 Examine all system cables, power plugs and
discontinue use if there are any signs of
damage.
5 Inspect all patient cables, leads and strain
reliefs for general condition. Make sure the
connectors are properly engaged at each end.

device.
Preventive maintenance Recurrent specified measures intended to maintain the functional integrity of
