DTP CrossPoint 4K Series Matrix Switchers • Operation 55
Port number
For Ethernet to RS-232 insertion, the insertion port number must be stated from a specific
starting point. This number is entered as the Telnet port number when you establish
communication with the insertion port.
For the purposes of this discussion, consider the Ethernet insertion ports as serial (RS-232)
ports. The rear panel Remote RS-232/RS-422 port and all input and output serial ports in
the switcher are numbered sequentially (see the table below for the default values).

Changing the starting point
You can change the starting port number. The simplest way to make this change is using
the Product Configuration Software (see Configuring RS-232 Insertion Parameters,
steps 1 and 6, on page 91).
Alternatively, you can change the starting port number via SIS commands (see the Set
UART starting point SIS command on page 81).
RS-232 protocol
You also may need to set the RS-232 protocol of the addressed port to match the connected
device. The simplest way to make this change is using the Product Configuration Software
(see Configuring RS-232 Insertion Parameters, steps 1, 4, and 5, on page 91).
Alternatively, you can change the port RS-232 settings via SIS commands (see the
Ethernet insertion serial port insert parameters SIS command on page 81).
