Chapter 8: Diagnostic and Repair Procedures
8-25
9. Secure the generator with the eight securing screw.
10. Connect the new generator power supply cable provided in the
replacement kit to the power supply board and to the
generator.
11. Reconnect connector PX-1 to the power supply board.
12. Replace the FT-70’s cover and power up the unit.
13. To complete the installation procedure you must recalibrate the
x-ray threshold as explained in Chapter 4: Configuring the
X-ray Threshold.
However, because the x-ray generator takes approximately 5
hours to burn in after it is powered up, you must perform the
x-ray calibration procedure twice:
Calibrate the x-ray threshold now so that you can begin
using the FT-70, but note that the inspection accuracy may
be slightly below expected levels.
Calibrate the x-ray threshold again after 5 hours of use.
This will allow you to fine tune the threshold to
compensate for the changes in the source over the burn-in
period. This will return the inspection accuracy back to
optimum level.
Caution
If your FT-70 is equipped with a scintillation tube detector (STD),
do not recalibrate the STD.
