3.7.4 Separate oil supply system3.7 Cooling
A separate oil supply system can be used to cool the oil.
When installing the gear unit, make sure that unhindered convection across the housing sur-
face is possible in order to protect the gear unit against overheating.
Further information
You can find additional information about separate oil supply systems in the operating in-
structions for the oil supply system, which are part of the complete documentation of the
gear unit.
You can find additional information about the components of the oil supply system in the op-
erating instructions for the components, which are part of the complete documentation of the
gear unit.
You can find additional technical data in the separate data sheet and in the list of equipment,
which are part of the complete documentation of the gear unit.
3.8 Couplings3.8 Couplings
Flexible couplings or torque limiters are generally used at the input end of the gear unit.
Use of rigid couplings or other input or output elements that generate additional radial or
axial forces (e.g. gear wheels, belt pulleys, flywheels or hydraulic couplings) must be agreed
contractually.
Further information
You will find further information on the couplings in the operating instructions of the coup-
lings, which are part of the complete documentation of the gear unit.
3.9 Shrink disk3.9 Shrink disk
A shrink disk is provided as a frictional clamping connection between the gear unit hollow
shaft and the driven machine on shaft-mounted gear units.
The shrink disk allows an interference fit to be created between a hollow shaft and a stub
shaft (machine shaft), referred to hereafter as "stub shaft". The interference fit is capable of
transferring torques, bending moments and forces. Crucial to the successful transmission of
torques and/or power is the joint pressure between the hollow and stub shafts generated by
the shrink disk.
Further information
You can find additional information about the shrink disk in the shrink disk operating instruc-
tions. These are included in the complete documentation for the gear unit.
