6.2.1 Initial test run6.2 Measures during commissioning
Requirements
Carry out the following before performing the initial test run:
• Read and observe the operating instructions.
• Commission the gear unit.
Procedure
Proceed as follows to carry out the initial test run:
1. Limit the period of the no-load test run on the gear unit to a minimum.
2. Monitor the oil level during this period.
The oil level will drop after the initial test run. It will rise again as the temperature of the
gear unit increases.
If the gear unit does not heat up due to insufficient load decrease, throttle the cooling
water inflow in order to reduce the formation of oil foam.
3. Check the bolted connections for oil leaks and reseal them again if necessary.
6.2.2 Gear units with heating6.2 Measures during commissioning
Please observe the following measures to commission the gear unit with heating:
• Ensure that the heating elements are not exposed.
• Check the switching points of the temperature monitor.
WARNING
Explosion and fire hazard
Exposed heating elements pose a fire hazard.
Do not put heating elements into service until you have checked that they are completely
immersed in the oil bath.
