8.3.6 Automatically converting attachments
Using the default setting, mail (MIME encoded) sent from a PC in a network is
encoded with UUENCODE. For Inmarsat C use UUENCODE.
If the intended receiver does not use UUENCODE, an attachment may be
unreadable. In this case, change the encode format to BINARY and re-send then
message. In the BINARY setting the attachment file name is not sent to the
receiver. To switch to BINARY follow the procedure below.
Note: Some LES do not use the BINARY format. Contact your LES for details.
Procedure
1. Press [F8] and [2] to display the System Setup menu.
2. Press the [↓] or [↑] key to choose Network Setup and then press the [Enter]
key.
3. Press the [↓] key to choose Mail Gateway and then press the [Enter] key.
4. Press the [↓] key to choose Attach and then press the [Enter] key.
5. Press the [↑] or [↓] key to choose the encoding format for attachments:
UUENCODE, or BINARY. For Inmarsat C use UUENCODE.
6. Press the [Enter] key.
7. Press the [Esc] key to show Update window.
8. Yes is selected; press the [Enter] key to update settings.
9. Press the [Esc] key three times to return to the standby display.
