7 MAINTAINING THE SPRING REEL TENSION (L SERIES)
The following describes the procedure for tensioning the spring reel with the use of a
locking pin which is inserted through holes drilled in each side of the spring reel (1).
Aach the rope to the wire loop on the spring reel and wrap rope
around the reel the required number of mes (2).
16mm hose: 2.0 turns VR hose: 2.5 turns 25mm hose: 3.0 turns
WARNING: Extreme care must be taken to avoid
accidental injury should the spring reel be allowed to recoil
unexpectedly. Gloves and eye protecon MUST be worn.
Pull the rope down to tension the spring reel (3) and keep pulling down unl the wire loop is level
with the retractor carriage
(4).
While sll pulling down on the rope, insert the retractor locking pin through the holes in the reel,
locking the spring reel against both sides of the bracket, thereby prevenng the rotaon of the
spring reel.
When locked the wire loop should be approx. 20-30mm above the hose carriage
(5).
Remove the rope from the wire and aach the wire loop to the top of the carriage (6).
While keeping tension on the carriage with the le hand, use the right hand to slide out the retractor
locking pin (7).
Slowly allow the carriage to slide upwards to the top of the rail (8).
