If the code has been entered correctly, the alarm indicator will extinguish, the alarm will stop sounding
and the engine can be started.
4.7.14 ABS Anti-lock Braking System
Brake bleeding (VIN locked, L319, L320, L322-06, L322-10, L405-13, L494-14)
This routine is used to eliminate air from the hydraulic system. It is required when the master cylinder
or any other component containing hydraulic uid is removed or replaced.
Preparation
• Gain access to bleeding screws located on calipers of each wheel.
• Make sure the battery is fully charged else use a battery maintainer.
• Two people are required for this operation. One to pump the brake pedal and one to work on
the calipers.
Instructions
Follow instructions on screen.
Note : This routine will take a few minutes. We recommend using a battery maintainer. Signicant
vibrations and noises are normal when the pump gets activated. L538, L359 2013+ and L550 do not
have such a routine as not implemented by LR.
Normal or Service position (L405-17, L494-17, L460, L461, L462, L538-17, L551, L560,
L663, X540, X761, X590, X760, X260)
This routine will allow servicing the parking brake by moving the shoes. For L319-04 and L322-06, the
positions are set in the Control IO function. This is located in the ABS ECU for 2017+.
Usage
Select Service position when servicing rear brakes and Normal when nished.
Preparation
• Disengage the parking break
• The ignition must be turned ON without the engine running.
