Web Authentication for Mobile Users
The Web-Auth Address Pool
When a client using dynamic IP addressing first associates with the access
point, the AP-530 assigns the client a temporary IP address from a pool of
temporary addresses that is shared by all Web-Auth WLANs. The addresses
are served by a limited-function address server used only for initializing Web-
Auth connections. The starting IP address, subnet mask, and lease time may
be customized.
Clients with fixed IP addresses may use Web-Auth if the IP address and subnet
mask are correctly configured for connecting to the AP-530.
Customizing the Authentication Screens
The fields in three of the informational pages displayed during the Web
Authentication process may be customized:
â– Login page
â– Welcome page
â– Failed page.
Each of the customizable pages has four text areas that may be customized
by the administrator:
â– Title Text: The text displayed in the title bar of the browser window,
â– Header Text: The large text at the top of the page,
â– Footer Text: Text at the end of the page,
â– Descriptive Text: The text area below the Header text.
The default text varies, depending on whether Web-Auth is configured for
Registered users only, Guest users only, or both Registered and Guest users.
