NOTE DIMMs and their sockets are keyed for proper installation. Be sure these guides line up
when installing DIMMs.

Use only industry-standard, unbuffered, PC2–4200 (533MHz) or PC2–5300 (667 MHz) DIMMs.
●
Match DIMM pairs by size and type
Required loading order
Use the following illustration as a guide for installing memory:

If installing only one DIMM, install it in socket 1.
●
Install the first DIMM pair in sockets 1 and 3.
●
Install the second DIMM pair in sockets 2 and 4.

To install a memory module:
1. Disconnect power from the system (
Predisassembly procedures on page 60) and remove the side
access panel (
Side access panel on page 66).
2. Gently push outwards on the socket levers.
3. Lower the DIMM straight down 1 and secure the socket levers 2 into place.
