E.1 Introduction
The audio functionalities of the WSB-9454 CPU card can be implemented using a
separately purchased audio module, the AC-KIT08R-R10. The audio kit is powered by
Realtek ALC655, a 16-bit, full duplex AC’97 2.3 compatible audio CODEC with 48KHz
sampling rate. The audio kit functionalities are interfaced through three (3) phone jack
connectors and two (2) pin headers including:
1. A LINE input shared with surround output
2. A MIC input shared with Center and LFE output
3. A LINE output
4. Analog line-level stereo inputs with 5-bit volume control: CDIN1 and AUXIN1.
Both Front_out and Surround_out are equipped with a built-in 50mW/20ohm amplifier.
The ALC655 supports host/soft audio from Intel
®
ICHx chipsets as well as audio controller
based VIA/SIS/Ali/ATI chipset with bundled Windows
®
series drivers
(XP/ME/2000/98/NT), EAX/Direct Sound 3D/I3DL2/A3D compatible sound effect utilities
supporting Karaoke, 26 kinds of environment sound emulations with 10-band equalizer,
and HRTF 3D positional audio. The audio kit provides an excellent entertainment package
sufficient for today’s multimedia systems.
