Transpector MPH Operating Manual
2.4.2 Installing Multiple Transpector MPH Sensors
Since each Transpector MPH is shipped with the same default IP address, the
IP address of each Transpector MPH must be changed one at a time so that each
sensor has a unique IP address. See section 2.3.1, Changing Transpector MPH
IP Address, on page 2-3.
Do not connect multiple Transpector MPH to a network at
the same time without first changing the IP addresses.
Since the IP addresses are not unique, connecting
multiple units at the same time will cause IP address
conflicts on the network.
2.4.2.1 Installing Multiple Transpector MPH Directly to a Host Computer
If multiple Transpector MPH sensors are to be connected to a single host computer
and not to an existing local area network, a private local network must be created.
Transpector MPH will have to be installed on either a router or Ethernet switch. The
router or switch is then connected to the host computer through the LAN port of the
router/switch.
2.4.2.2 Installing Multiple Transpector MPH on an Existing Local Network
If multiple Transpector MPH sensors are to be connected to an existing local
network, use an Ethernet switch instead of a router.
NOTE: Routers can cause conflicts with local networks because the router will
attempt to set IP addresses for all network connected devices.
Since Transpector MPH sensors will be network connected devices, each sensor
must have an IP address assigned to it by a network administrator. After changing
each IP address manually, connect all of the sensors to the Ethernet switch and
connect the switch to the local network.
