mightcausetheservertohalt,whichmightresultinthelossofdata.Toavoidthispotentialproblem,
alwaysuseanelectrostatic-dischargewriststraporothergroundingsystemwhenyouworkinsidethe
serverwiththepoweron.

Ifyouarereplacingaservercomponentintheserver,youneedtoturnofftheserverandperipheraldevices,
anddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Toinstalla2.5-inchhot-swapharddiskdrive,completethefollowingsteps.
Step1.Unlocktheleft-sidecover.
Note:Youmustunlocktheleft-sidecovertoopenorremovethebezel.Whenyoulocktheleft-side
cover,itlocksboththecoverandthebezel.
Step2.Openthebezel(see“Removingthebezel”onpage184).
Step3.Removethe2.5-inchfillerpanel,ifoneispresent.
Step4.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthediskdrivetoanyunpaintedmetalsurface
ontheserver;then,removethediskdrivefromthepackage.
Step5.Makesurethatthedrivehandleisopenedbypressthelatch;then,installtheharddiskdrive
intothedrivebay.
Step6.Rotatethedrivehandleuntilthedriveisseatedinthedrivebayandthereleaselatchclicksinto
place.
