Technical rules for system fans
Note: If an OCP 3.0 Ethernet adapter is installed, when the system is powered off but still plugged in to AC
power, system fans will continue to spin at a much lower speed. This is the system design to provide proper
cooling for the OCP 3.0 Ethernet adapter.
Follow the following rules for system fan selection:
• Standard fans are selected when no GPU adapter, rear drive cage, middle drive cage, or Ethernet adapter
of 100 GbE or higher is installed and the processor TDP is 120 watts or 155 watts.
• Only when standard fans are selected, can 3.5" 14TB and 12TB SAS/SATA HDD be supported.
• Performance fans are selected when a GPU adapter, rear drive cage, middle drive cage, or Ethernet
adapter of 100 GbE or higher is installed, or the processor TDP is 180 watts, 200 watts, 225 watts, 240
watts, or 280 watts.
• Fan 1 is optional when no M.2 drive, internal PCIe adapter, middle drive cage, rear drive cage or GPU
adapter is installed. However, if no fan 1 is installed, you must keep the location for fan 1 occupied by a
fan filler to ensure proper airflow.
Technical rules for GPU adapters
For NVIDIA Tesla T4, the rules of installing two and three GPUs are as follows:
For two GPUs:
• PCIe slot priority to install the GPU: PCIe slot 1, PCIe slot 3, PCIe slot 2.
• High-performance fan must be selected.
• Internal drive assembly and rear drive cage are not supported.
• PCIe SSD adapter is not supported.
• Maximum TDP for CPU is 200 watts.
